The Basics of Playing Blackjack in Casinos
Learning the basics of blackjack is vital in winning the game and going home with the money. All blackjack games start with the players seated around the table and placing their bets on their corresponding betting areas. Joining the game while a hand is still being played is not allowed in blackjack. You must only join in the game after all the hands were played and before a new round has started.
If you join in the game right after a shuffle, one of the players will be instructed to cut the cards. The privilege of cutting the cards moves from one player to another in a clockwise direction after each shuffle. It is customary that the first card on the deck is burned then the players will be dealt with two initial cards starting from the player at the first base of the blackjack table.
The dealer will also be dealt with two initial cards but one of the cards is facing up. The card that is facing down is called as the hole card. If ever the face up card of the dealer is an Ace, blackjack players will usually be offered with insurance. It means that the blackjack players will bet that the initial two cards of the dealer have a value of 21 or blackjack.
The amount of insurance bets is usually up to half of the original bet of the player. And if the dealer's hand is a blackjack, then the player's insurance bets win and the payout is 2:1 and all the original bets of the players are gone. But if the dealer's hand is not a blackjack, then the players will lose their insurance bets.
If it happens that the initial two cards of the player complete a blackjack, the cards will have to be turned over at once and the player will receive a payout of 3:2 for the blackjack. If ever both the player and the dealer have a blackjack and there are no insurance bets, then the hand will become a tie or push. The bet of the player will be returned back and neither the player nor the dealer wins.
The normal flow of the blackjack game will continue if both the players and the dealer don't have a blackjack. The players will have to decide what to do with their hand using the basic blackjack strategy to win in the game. The dealer will play his hand in accordance to the set house rules of blackjack and nothing more or less.
