The Basics Of Blackjack

There is no doubt that Blackjack is one of the most played casino games. This is because Blackjack is one of the most popular card games of all time.

The basic rule of Blackjack is that players need to have a hand value of 21, but not going over it while at the same time beating the dealer's cards.

The dealer will live only by the house rules. Dealers will not have any options but players have different options to perform if desired to help make their hand stronger.

Values of cards are as follows:

> Ace - can be counted as 1 or 11, this depends on the player's choice. > Cards 10, Jacks, Queens and Kings - counted as 10. > Cards 2 to 9 - counted as indicated.

First, players need to place their bet and then dealer will deal the cards. Two cards are dealt for each player. The dealer will begin to give cards starting to his or her left.

Some casinos where the cards are dealt face up stipulate that a player is not allowed to touch their cards and can only view them for decision making.

On the other hand, in a hand-held game, players are allowed to pick up their cards if they were dealt face down; provided the player will abide by the following rules:

> Players are allowed to pick the cards using one hand only. > Keep the cards above the table all the time. > If you call for an additional card, it should be left on the table and it should not mix with your other cards.

How the dealer can play his or her hand should be clear enough with the following rules:

> First rule: The Dealer will stand on 17 or higher.

This is a common rule. The dealer will hit until he or she reaches a total of 17 or higher. If the dealer has an Ace, this should be counted as 11 as long as it is possible, but as long as his or her total will not exceed 21.

> Second rule: The Dealer will hit a soft 17; this being an ace and a 6.

There are casinos that still use this rule while others use a variation. On other rules the dealer will not have any other choice to make but to follow these strict rules.

A player will get a natural or blackjack if his or her first two cards have a total of 21. The player will win automatically plus bonus. However, if both the dealer and the player have blackjack the game is a tie.

To increase your odds in Blackjack you can make use of other options like splitting, surrender and many others. There are things that you need to study before making any decisions.
